As BDM Logistics enters a new phase of growth, the opening of its Nottingham facility marks a defining moment for the business. For Paul Lipscomb, Managing Director at BDM Logistics, the expansion is about building resilience and long-term capability, not short-term headlines.
“After five years of fantastic growth, it was essential that we added the capacity needed to carry that momentum forward,” Paul explains. “The Nottingham facility was the perfect solution—it doubles our overall capacity and is ideally located for us as a specialist 3PL to the beauty sector.” With that foundation in place, he adds, “I fully expect BDM’s throughput to have doubled by 2030.”
Tapping into E-commerce growth
E-commerce remains one of the fastest-moving pressures on beauty supply chains, and Paul is clear on how BDM is responding. “Since 2020, e-commerce has been a critical channel for many of our clients,” he says. “Flexibility is key—from bespoke pack-off solutions that reflect a brand’s identity, to operations that can scale quickly and seamlessly as demand changes.” The Nottingham site, he notes, strengthens that adaptability, building speed and responsiveness directly into the network. The real advantage, however, lies in how BDM’s locations work together. “Our Nottingham facility sits right next to the Boots national distribution centre,” Paul says, referencing one of the UK’s most important beauty retail routes.
Location, Location, Location
“At the same time, our Beckton site in East London is close to City Airport and perfectly placed for express courier deliveries into luxury department stores.” Together, he believes, they create “a genuinely unique offering, allowing us to position stock exactly where it’s needed, with optimal efficiency.”
Looking ahead, Paul returns to the importance of trust. “These investments were made to ensure we have the capacity to support our clients’ growth—now and well into the future,” he says. “We’ve been privileged to play a part in many of their success stories, and continuing to earn that trust will always be our top priority.”
